The theme of 2018 is &quot;Democracy under attack: solutions for a changing world&quot;.<br \/>\nDay portal: http:\/\/www.un.org\/ru\/events\/democracyday\/index.shtml<\/p>\n<p>The International Day of Democracy is a good reason to pay attention to the state of democracy in the world.<br \/>\nThe ideals of freedom, respect for human rights and the principle of periodic and unfalsified elections based on universal suffrage are important elements of democracy. In turn, democracy provides natural conditions for the protection and effective implementation of human rights.
