A joint project of the Government of Sweden and the United Nations Development Program "Strengthened partnership for sustainable development" announces a competition for project ideas in the field of sustainable development in Ukraine.

They are invited to participate:

  • local authorities and local self-government bodies,
  • educational institutions,
  • civil society organizations,
  • business organizations,

which united to solve the problems of sustainable development of the region.

Tasks of the competition:

  • To form effective multilateral partnerships, which are oriented towards challenges and are ready to initiate and solve current problems of key areas of sustainable development;
  • To select innovative ideas for initiatives on a competitive basis of sustainable local development, which are designed to solve an important and sufficiently widespread (not unique) problem under the conditions of effective partnership, around which partners from different sectors are united.

The activities of future partnerships must be carried out according to at least one of the following key directions in the field of sustainable development:

  • became mobility*;
  • increasing energy efficiency;
  • effective waste management;
  • stimulation of local economic development.
Constant mobility is mobility in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. Sustainable mobility involves the provision of services and the creation of infrastructure for the movement of people and goods – contributing to economic and social development for the benefit of present and future generations – in a safe, economical, accessible, efficient and reliable manner, while minimizing carbon and other harmful emissions and negative impacts on the environment This includes, among other things, efficient and environmentally friendly transport systems. Transport contributes to the development of territories, connects people and local communities to the rest of the world, shapes markets and facilitates trade. An efficient and ecological transport system should better cope with negative external factors. At the same time, it must perform its main function, namely ensuring greater mobility for all, in particular for low-income and vulnerable groups.

Competition stages

The methodology of the competition consists in selection on the competitive basis of five solutions developed in a multilateral partnership, which will take place in three stages:

  • Stage 1: competitive selection of project ideas based on a completed online application and confirmed partnership.
  • Stage 2: inviting the winners of the first stage to an interregional forum for a thorough presentation of the proposed ideas and discussion of possible ways of its correction in accordance with the Project's objectives.
  • Stage 3: analysis of project proposals refined during the second stage and making a final decision on the project proposals that will be supported.

Five of the most interesting and promising initiatives from the point of view of replication, aimed at solving the problems of sustainable development and developed in a multilateral partnership, will be supported and implemented within the framework of the Project.

Design ideas designed in accordance with the requirements can be submitted by filling out an application for participation in the competition for link.

Deadline for project idea submission: May 31, 2019 until 6:00 p.m.
